Tommy Boy

We're With You, Man!

The Cure: High

An Elegant Biography

The bio from hell continues to a second page. I hope you've got a comfy chair. Last updated on September 7th, 2006

Favorite body parts of the opposite sex: I've always had a thing for the feet and the navel. As a rule, I don't like toe rings (because they tend to make the toes look hideously long and deformed), but navel piercings are nice. Cool eyes are a big positive, but that's such a common answer that it isn't really worth mentioning. I saw a book years and years ago that said women hated being complimented on common features like their eyes, face, hair and lips, and loved being complimented on the less-commonly critiqued bits of their anatomy. So I like Autumn's eyebrows.

Any tattoos and where of what?: None at the moment. Someday I'll climb in the car and get one as a spur of the moment thing. We'd talked about heading out to New Orleans for a long weekend, getting all liquored up and doing it then, but then the whole Katrina thing happened, and... yeah. I'll get one of three things (if not all three, eventually); a "Q" in the Georgia font, as pictured in about 1500 spots on this site, the phrase "know thyself" in Latin (as seen in The Matrix), and / or the Porl Thompson sketch that adorned the cover of The Cure's single, "High." See the left bar for that last one.

Piercings and where?: Haven't one, nor do I have any intention of getting one. I plan to complete my life with as few needles entering my skin as possible.

What do you think of chain letters?: I rub them all over my nipples.

Best Advice: Don't get in any kind of a rush to grow up... the only thing they let you do is drink alcohol, vote and save a little money on car insurance, and even those pleasures are highly overrated. If I had to pick between a sip of Mudslide and the ability to drive a car, or a life that included Nintendo, a little school, Cowboys & Indians, and ignorance... I'd take bliss.

Important lessons you've learned: You can't guilt someone into loving you. The "real world" sucks. Hold onto college for as long as the man is willing to let you.

Words and phrases you over use: "Like". I'm attempting to completely eliminate my use of the words "Uh" and "Um." I habitually begin sentences with the word "So..." because I can't be bothered to think of a way to casually introduce a new subject to conversation. I've also been using the word "Bah" entirely too often lately. As in, "expression of dismissal," not "expression of a sheep." Aside from that, it's a carousel of overuse.. rarely do I overuse a word for longer than a couple of months. I usually quote Wayne's World, Pulp Fiction and Tommy Boy relentlessly, in addition to Office Space. I'll always say "cool" when I can't think of another, nicer way to say "this conversation's about ready to end." That, or if I really think something's cool.

Favorite trip(s): Sarasota 1998 (one of the few vacations where I didn't want to come home) and San Diego 1999 (because it's one of the only things I'd built up in my mind that didn't let me down).

Dream car: I'm enthralled with late 70's muscle cars. I'd love to have something orange, loud and mean as a herniating elf with a chainsaw, like a "Judge." When I was young, my dreams included a Ferrari Testarosa (I set my sights a bit high), and I wouldn't turn one down today... and I've always had some sort of inane lust for the DeLorean. Maybe that's got more to do with Back to the Future than anything else.

Worst Habit: Collapsing under pressure, procrastinating, overloading myself, and applying the "Final Fantasy" method for stopping conversations that have drug on beyond the stopping point (repeat your last phrase, over.. and over.. and over again).

Coolest experience of my life: My first kiss. I'm a grown man, and I still haven't experienced anything really cooler than that.

Where do you shop?: Honestly, I try not to when given the chance. I spend far too much time in Electronics Boutique, Circuit City and Best Buy. For DVDs I stick with Netflix. For clothes, well... I'll hit Goodwill or Old Navy, but Wal-Mart gets the job done, too. It's easy to find clothes when you wear plain T-shirts and jeans to work. I'm a weekly visitor to Sarasota's Pop Comics and Games, and sometimes I'll step on into the video game superstore known as EBgames.

What is your favorite thing to wear?: During high school, I set a record for the longest continuous wearing of the color black... my wardrobe hasn't really shifted too much since then. Black or blue jeans are a staple of my wardrobe, as are my black Chuck Taylor All-Stars. Sometimes I'll wear a collared shirt, but on the large I'm in a grey, dark blue, tan or black T-Shirt. I look like somebody who frequented the Gap a lot in the '80s.
