The Breakfast Club

Learn more about teen depression with Sixteen Candles

Marilyn Derwenskus

Simple Minds

In what could have just as easily passed as a promotional poster for a mid-80s John Hughes teen dramedy along the lines of Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles or The Breakfast Club, the painting posse (Alex, Amy, Autumn, Brian and I) pose in front of Ed Debevic's in Chicago. Also appearing is our our prof, the illustrious Marilynn Derwenskus. The drive up there was horrifying, to the point where I just laid down in my seat, quit looking out the window and prayed we got there safe.

ON THE LEFT:
The first movie highlighted herein is The Breakfast Club, probably my favorite 80s film ever. Ally Sheedy is so hot in that movie. So hot. Underneath that is a quick jump to the IMDb coverage of another of the great High School mope-a-dramadies, Sixteen Candles, which is notably Sheedy-less. The final link takes you to the miniscule page Ball State has given to the Painting Profs, including one Marilynn Derwenskus, as seen with her back to the camera in the above shot.
