Ode

Ode (Woodcut, 1999)
printmaking

I really like the way this one turned out. One problem I've always had with my work is my tendency to overdetail and overthink my rendering, to the point that things get too busy and muddled. With this print, I managed to restrain myself and let the woodblock do most of the work. I love the extreme contrast in the lighting on the figure, which makes sense considering he's standing in the middle of a fire, and the variety of colors in the flames themselves complete the picture on their own.
